Agnes of Assisi was the younger sister of Clare of Assisi (1194-1253), who founded the second order of Franciscans, also known as the Poor Clares. In 1219, Agnes became the Abbess of the Clarissan house of Monticelli in Florence, and died shortly following her sister in 1253. For further information, please see:
