Saint Anselm of Canterbury was an influential medieval philosopher and theologian, and Archbishop of Canterbury from 1093 to 1109. Called the founder of Scholasticism, he is famous as the inventor of the ontological argument for the existence of God, which he put forth in the Proslogion. Also included on this website is a brief letter from Anselm to Pope Urban II. The Latin texts, with no introductory material or scholarly apparatus, can be found on the Latin Library website.
