Searching for medieval authors can be tricky because there are so many variant spellings. If you are having trouble finding an author, check the index of authors to make sure you are using the same spelling we used, since several spellings are often possible for medieval authors. Some authors who have forenames and surnames are known better by their forenames, which makes them difficult to find in a list alphabetized by surname. When you are looking at the author index, you can hit Ctrl+F and type in a name to search throughout all the names on the list to find a forename of an author who is listed by surname.
